Kansas City Metro-MetroRegion Weather: Snow Saturday?

Links to this post
0 YOUR COMMENT(S)
Sorry- now I'M asking readers weather-forecast questions like the TV people do their viewers...

The answer is: it LOOKS like snow- or like frozen wintery-type precipitation this coming Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

The images shown here are GFS weather-model forecast maps for Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at midnight- showing an intensifying low-pressure system in Missouri- wrapping-around more cold air and possibly snow into the K.C. MetroRegion and Metro.

Note particularily the blue- 0-degree Centigrade or 32-degree Fahrenheit line and the green-shaded precipitation area as it is in relation to Kansas City and our surrounding MetroRegion.

It shows us to be at or below 32-degrees and in the soup.

How much snow is really too early to tell with any certainty- but if the map scenario holds up- at least several inches are possible here in Kansas City.

Stay tuned- as I'm watching developing weather situation this closely....

Kansas City's AM 'Talk-Radio' Hasn't Changed

For the first time in many- MANY years- I tuned into a K.C. AM talk-radio station- KMBZ- to hear Mr. Glenn Stevens- the man who MegaCorportation Walmart has accused of crimes Mr. Stevens never committed.

Once again- if I turned-down either the endless commercials AND/OR the endless host chatter- I would have missed the approximately 3 minutes total that I actually HEARD Glenn Stevens talk.

KMBZ should SERIOUSLY consider hiring Denver talk-radio host Rick Barber.

Rick's a political pragmatist who actually lets his guests- and the people who call in- TALK!

I'm behind the Stevens family 150%- but the next K.C. talk show they're on I'll catch in later- Net-downloadable podcasts that I can edit-out the commercials and the too-chatty hosts.

First off- The Peachtree location at the P&L closed Monday.

Nick Benjamin- "executive director" of the District- told the KANSAS CITY BUSINESS JOURNAL that "We are extremely sorry to see any business not succeed; although it is an unfortunate fact of life in a project with over 50 businesses in this challenging economic environment that some will not make it” and "The record of success of our tenants compares very favorably with any other similar district both in this market and nationally.”

Not all the shootings and stabbings happen within 10 miles of downtown KC-MO...

Lawrence Fire-Douglas County EMS were spared calls when two victims of a shooting and a stabbing were driven to  the Lawrence Memorial Hospital (LMH) emergency room early Sunday.

Lawrence police investigated a large disturbance outside Liberty Hall at 644 Massachusetts St. just after 1:30 a.m.- where a man who had been stabbed multiple times had left the area.

That man- a 20-year-old- later showed up at LMH- was given life-stabilizing treatment for his wounds- then transported by ambulance to K.U. Med Center in KC-KS..

Then about an hour later at 2:30 a.m.- a call is received from the emergency room of LMH that a male victim of a gunshot wound to his abdomen had arrived there.

The injury was from a reported shooting at the South Pointe Apartments in the 2300 block of West 26th Street.

The 23-year-old man's injuries were serious to critical- and he was also transferred to another higher-level trauma center- in Topeka.

Years from today- some child may ask their mother "Where was I born?"

The mother of the child born at 2:17 a.m. Sunday morning December 5, 2010 near Harrisonville MO may struggle a bit to word her answer to such a question.

At 2:16 a.m.- EMS personnel from the Central Cass County Fire Protection District responded to a call of "an active child birth in the bathroom" of a convenience store just west of the Missouri-7 junction with U.S. 71 highway- just south of Harrisonville.

Before the CCCFPD medics could get there- the infant had- at 2:18 a.m.- reportedly "been delivered" at the store.

Initially it was reported the unknown-gender-to-me newborn was "not breathing."

However medics quickly arrived and assisted the child to normal breathing and the mother and her infant were transported non-emergency to Research Medical Center.

Traffic-Meter Signal Needed at Westbound I-435 Ramp From U.S. 69 and Quivira

0 YOUR COMMENT(S)
On occasion- we go visit my brother "Zeppo" and his family who live in Olathe during a weekday and- in what will be decreasing occasions- it's around the evening "drive (park)-time."

Visits at those times will be decreasing- because westbound I-435 west of U.S. 69 becomes a gas-guzzling parking lot.

We notice all the traffic-metering signals on the I-435 ramps going EASTBOUND- but apparently KDoT ignores the westbound mess.

Look at this image taken from an Overland Park Traffic Dept. camera looking south on Quivira at I-435 and notice all the vehicles lined up to turn onto the westbound I-435 ramp from Quivira.

Also note- this image was screen-capped just after 1 p.m. Friday afternoon- several hours before the evening commute!

We've noted the several times we're trapped in the westbound mess- that letting drivers in who have exited off of U.S. 69 OR Quivira is often a mistake- for those drivers take advantage of our consideration letting them in line- just to hold up the line trying to merge into the farther left 2 lanes.

In fact- this is much of the reason the far right lane of westbound I-435 past U.S. 69 comes to a standstill and barely moves- people merging in- then waiting to merge further left.

Hey KDoT- how about some of those traffic-metered signals on the WESTBOUND side of I-435 out there.

In addition- eastbound I-435 traffic merging into the southbound I-35 ramp at the big fly-over don't seem to know what YIELD signs mean- creating an even bigger mess.

We'll just restrict our visits until evening AFTER 6:30 p.m.- or on weekends I guess until traffic engineers get a clue.

KC-MO Police Rule Westport Death of Man- Brian Euston- Is A Homicide

Your "news captain-" who works for the news department of a Kansas City television station (KSHB) monitoring weekend overnight news happenings- was on-duty the morning of October 10 when I heard the first report of a man who had suffered a head injury in Westport.

The report of that incident went to the station in my early-morning updates- and the story I compiled for this blog can be found HERE.

It's reported over the next few days that Mr. Euston had been out drinking with friends- and they had parted ways not long before Brian was found lying on the sidewalk with his mortal injuries by Westport security officers.

Speculation went from Mr. Euston simply falling and suffering his soon-fatal skull fracture- to being knocked down by someone.

Incredibly- it was reported even later that week that someone of questionable humanity had actually taken cellphone pictures/video of Mr. Euston laying prone and unconscious on the sidewalk- possibly even of the low-life(s) who knocked Brian down- and posted them on the Internet.

As the police began seriously investigating this incident- those images were removed from the place(s) they were posted.

Now- the police are calling Brian Euston's death "a homicide-" and detectives are seeking the "person or persons" who took the photos/videos.

I have been made aware too that some blogger has made Euston's death "a race issue."

The coward or cowards who took the images of Brian Euston need to step up and fess up.

The blogger making this- the death of A HUMAN BEING a race issue- needs to shut up.

Emergency crews are awaiting both the Water Department as well as the Gas Service company crews to shut of the affected lines
