Woman Dies in a Northland KC-MO Crash

This wasn't just any crash- for it took nearly an hour and a half to extricate the a person from the wreckage- who died.

It was in spite of a valiant effort by KC-MO Fire and paramedic crews- who worked on the "25-year-old female" trapped in a mangled car since the wreck was first reported at 1:07 a.m.- on southbound I-29 under one of the bridges of the I-635 interchange on the northern border of Riverside.

Extrication tools and airbags were used- while medics wiggled around the wreckage trying to keep the trapped woman alive.

That effort failed when- after the 2:32 a.m. extrication of the female was completed- she was declared dead-at-the-scene by the paramedic.

A second male patient- reportedly the driver of the car- refused medical transport.

The wreck is being investigated while southbound I-29 at I-635 remained closed for several hours Saturday morning.

Two-Alarm Olathe KS House Fire Possibly Lightning-Caused

D
amage is severe to a 2-1/2-story house in the 18500 block of West 114th Street in northern Olathe.

Friday Evening's Weather and News- Includes the Latest KC-MO Homicide(s?)

I'm supposed to take a nap before the overnight shift starting at midnight- but the evening's thunderstorms have made that impossible so far...

First off- the BREAKING NEWS of one- and a possible 2nd killing on Kansas City's East Side.

It was reported at 8:32 p.m. in the 2700 block of Cypress- and 2 victims were found.

One is a yet-unidentified female human being who died at the scene- the other a male with a gunshot wound to his chest who was taken to a Metro trauma center in grave condition..

The other sig-news is the weather...the nighttime that came more than an hour before sunset....

Some areas received more than 2-inches of mostly needed rain in about that many hours.

There were no significant flooding issues- with just one reported water rescue in the Ruskin Heights area of KC-MO..

There have been no significant reports of wind damage other than tree and minor structural damage in Holt MO from an afternoon storm that caused a tornado waarning to be issued.

No tornado was sighted.

Then- there was all that lightning...

Around 8:45 p.m.- a KC-MO EMS unit was transporting a young woman who was reported as "an employee of Worlds Of Fun" to a Metro Northland hospital after she received a "shock from a lightning strike" on a nearby ride.

The patient's condition was described by a paramedic as good.

The most significant reported so far is a strike on a 3-story structure in Lawrence KS..

That bolt produced a fire- reported at 7:40 p.m. in the 400  block of Forest and the fire wasn't reported under control until 8:15 p.m..

No report of any significant injuries.

Other lightning strikes on homes or businesses have reportedly occurred from Lafayette- Johnson- Cass and Jackson counties in Missouri to Douglas- Leavenworth- Wyandotte and Johnson counties in Kansas.

The severe storm watch runs until 10 p.m.- with weather radar showing the last severe line segment of storms moving east in the southern Metro with some scattered heavy storm cells north of the MO River.

Hope YOU make/made it through okay and updates as needed later.

T
he owner of Kansas city's unique shopping area known as the Country Club Plaza- Highwoods Properties of North Carolina- along with local firm Polsinelli Shughart want to transform the northeast corner of 47th Street and Broadway from this

Highwoods is building Polsinelli Shughart an 8-story building there- apparently without ANY regard to the existing architecture of that area.

Take your photos soon- because it appears that Highwoods Properties wants to totally do-away with the area formerly known as the Plaza and probably soon to be called Corporate Woods-East....

Budget-breaking New "Driveway Tax" Conjured Up By Mission KS Pollys

H
mmm- how can I further tax the people? said the Mission city council and then they count the ways...

This newest strain on The People is called "a driveway tax."  The amount of tax is determined on the traffic coming and going from Mission driveways.

Don't own a car but have a driveway?  No problem- Mission will STILL tax you.

The KANSAS CITY STAR calls this new tax passed by Mission KS pollys "groundbreaking."

I call the tax "budget-breaking-" as in how many more new/increased taxes can a person on say a fixed income- can bear?

This governmental tax-raising frenzy is absolutely nuts- the total financial destruction of the American "middle-class" as we once knew it.

___________

CSW BREAKING: Haz-Mat Incident in Pleasant Hill MO

Around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon- Pleasant Hill firefighters were called out to Independence Avenue and Cedar on the report of fuel spilled into a creek there.

Firefighters have found gasoline in the small neighborhood creek/drainage ditch- reportedly originating from a nearby (Casey's) convenience store- and- at 2:09 p.m.- requested a Harrisonville FD Haz-Mat crew.

Reports from the scene indicate there was possibly some sort of "alarm sounding the past few days" regarding the convenience store's underground fuel tanks- but no one at the store apparently bothered to advise authorities.

No word yet on the amount of fuel spilled into the creek- it sounds to be fairly considerable- or of any possible evacuations of the affected area one block west of M-7 highway in central PH....

KC-MO Officials Stop At Nothing To Halt E-Tax Vote

In case you were wondering as I was who filed the lawsuit to stop the citizen-initiative vote on the earnings tax in Kansas City and St. Louis- it was the city attorney Galen Beaufort with an assist from a local AFL-CIO labor official- Pat Dujakovich says The KANSAS CITY STAR.

With support of course from Mayor Funkhouser and the rest of the City "Clowncil."

Of course I thought the lawsuit was frivolous- but Clowncilman Ed Ford- one of the corporate welfare kings on the Clowncil told The STAR the lawsuit “(Is) not frivolous by any means.”

Oh no.  Trying to take away a basic American freedom of redressing it's government(s) is not frivolous in the least.

Right!!!

Clowncilman Ford would probably approve a name-change for America too- to the United Corporate States of America for Ford knows which side his bread is buttered on- and it's NOT the citizens' side.

If the Cole county judge throws out the citizen petitions to hold the election on that unpopular tax- then America as we know it has completely left the building.

Sunday Morning Homicide in South-Central KC-MO

Police are investigating Kansas City MO's latest homicide.

The call was received by emergency services around 4:30 a.m. to a house in the 5500 block of Michigan.

Sorrowfully expressive friends and relatives could be heard as police officers requested more officers- as well as crime scene investigators and a homicide detective- to control and process the scene where a male had been shot dead.

Cops say "preliminary suspect information" has police looking for "a light-skinned black male wearing braids who goes by the name of Jamie."

That suspect "left the scene northbound on Michigan in a gold Ford F-150 pickup truck."
