No Significant News Overnight- But Some Roads Icy This Morning

))) There wasn't anything of major importance overnight in the Metro- two car wrecks in KC-MO- one north- the other south of the river and a house fire north of Smithville- MO.. )))

>>> In the north wreck in the 3200 block of North Cherry a female suffered serious leg and other injuries.

>>> The south wreck was at Linwood Boulevard and Montgall. Police ran down the fleeing driver of a car that struck several other parked cars. That driver then went unconscious- and was rated in critical condition by MAST paramedics enroute to a trauma center.

>>> The house fire broke out about 3am north of Smithville off Woodruff Drive and Northeast 188th Street. Heavy smoke was reported by the first arriving fire unit- but nothing else is known about this incident.

>>> Some roads- highways and freeways have icy spots on them this morning due to "sweat" freezing in temperatures in the upper 20's.

Wrecks have temporarily closed northbound I-35 near the I-29 split.

Other wrecks have been reported on I-435 north of I-35 and in Independence along I-470 & I-70 and KC-KS near I-70 & I-635.

This condition will prevail until the sun warms the pavements.

Use caution on any wet appearing pavement you encounter until after 9am.

Action41 Weekend News Begins - NOW

With little fanfare and even less direction- the KSHB Action41 Weekend News programs start their Saturday and Sunday morning runs tomorrow at 8am..

Although I won't have the luxury of an on-the-street photographer- I still hope to match at least what the other news stations are showing as far as overnight news.

If you- the viewer don't already know- weekend overnights (Saturday and Sunday mornings) are the most active.

I'll still cover significant incidents in a pre-7am report here for early birds- but please make the 8am weekend morning editions of Action 41 News a part of your weekend.

Capt. Spaulding's Endorsements: Obama And Nobody

Okay- the KANSAS CITY STAR blindly endorses Clinton (NO- NOT ANOTHER ONE!!!) for the Dems and McCain for the Repubs.

I endorse Barrack Obama for the Dems and Nobody for the Repubs.

Why Obama? He's real- a breath of fresh air in this age of career polly-hacks. Because he's a black man? Hell no- it's because he's an intelligent man with a vision.

As for Nobody for that other established party of polly-hacks- well- you KNOW when it comes to the Repubs- Nobody cares about the citizens' needs and you KNOW Nobody will act on them.

Nobody really really cares about the middle class- morally-wrong wars and high energy prices.

So there you have it- the choice between hope and Nobody.

Or you can vote 3rd party like I always do and send a firm message to BOTH parties that it's no longer politics as usual in the good-ole UCSA (United Corporate States of America).

Scattered Cumulus II

NEWS ITEM:
Frances Semler quits KC-MO Parks board.

And no La Raza- I don't WANT your stinking pro-illegals convention HERE anyway. Go to Louisville with everybody else....

NEWS ITEM: Feds lower interest rates 3/4 of a point.

The Feds can give away free money on the corner to wealthy bankers all day long- it's not going to stop Shrub from holding hands and kissing wealthy Arabs. Look how gasoline prices went UP 15-cents a gallon this morning.

NEWS ITEM: Richard Tolbert's group thousands of signatures short on petitions to "save" the decrepit Bannister Mall.

Why doesn't Tolbert waste efforts like this on things like getting Bush & Cheney impeached? Where was Mr. Tolbert 2 years ago when Bannister REALLY started to die? Nobody around here with a clear mind is signing these things- can you spell o-b-s-t-r-u-c-t-i-o-n-i-s-t?

NEWS ITEM: Missouri Governor Matt Blunt won't run for a 2nd term.

Isn't it NICE when a politician gets a CLUE? The new century brings the rise and destruction of the Republicrat Party - as a group they hoist themselves on their own petard.

Sorry 'bout the tears- it happens when I LAUGH so friggin hard....

Go Away- Gov. Matt Blunt

Here we go- the guy that cut nearly a half million Missourians from the health-care rolls in 2005 is touting some panacea health care measure of his OWN- trying shamelessly to get re-elected.

Won't work Blunt.

Make this Shrub-clone a one-term wonder- i.e. wonder how some clown like this EVER got to do one term in such an office of high responsibility.

Time for REGULAR DRUG TESTS FOR POLITICIANS (voters too) !!!!! cause this guy is obviously on some self-delusional chemical.....

<><><> OVERNIGHT WEATHER <><><>

Cloud cover developed overnight over central and southern parts of the Kansas City MetroRegion- actually helping to moderate some area temperaturtes that had once again fallen below zero..

A day twice as warm as yesterday will still struggle to see temperatures reach the freezing mark- as high clouds slowly overspread the late-day sky in advance of our next winter storm system Monday into early Tuesday.

That storm system looks to bring light rain and drizzle to about the southern half of the MetroRegion- with light freezing rain and/or drizzle- sleet and/or snow expected in roughly the northern half.

Another cold front will sweep through by early Tuesday- changing all precip briefly to light snow before ending. Temperatures will again chill to the zero mark by Wednesday morning.

Frigid but dry weather expected then until next weekend.
