Severe Tstm Watch No. 136 Until 6 am For Northwestern Portions of Metro Kansas City

The Severe Thunderstorm watch includes Leavenworth in Kansas- and Platte counties in Missouri.



The watch does affect Metro St. Joseph.



I-435 Now Open in South Kansas City MO

According to KC Scout cameras-- southbound I-435 has reopened from M-350 to The Grandview Triangle.




It appears the northbound lanes at 83rd Street will be cleared in the next few hours- with the entire I-435 stretch opening ahead of the 5 am Monday morning schedule.


UPDATE 8:15 pm- Both north and south I-435 is now open on Kansas City MO's southeast side.

"Slight" Risk For Severe Storms Later Today


Metro Kansas City and surrounding areas from southwest to northeast are included in a forecasted "slight risk" for severe thunderstorms later this afternoon and evening.




Large hail and strong winds are the primary threats- with a slight chance of a tornado or two in the shown forecast area.



As of this post- there is NO storm activity indicated on NWS radars within 100 miles of Metro KC.
