Around 1900 Employees Want Look At Corporate Books

The 1900 are employees of what is known as the National Football League- and they're threatening a job action in ... March???


Though a number of that 1900 make more money in one year than you or I make in 20 years- or a lifetime- the player's union want a look at the ledgers of the 32 teams that make up the NFL..


Also does the following sound early 21st Century corporate- the team owners (apparently not satisfied with ticket price increases and local taxpayer subsidies) want to slash their employees' pay by "18%-" according to the story in the KANSAS CITY BUSINESS JOURNAL.

Independence MO Recorded 10 Homicides in 2010

Independence- with around 120000 residents- is not quite 5 times smaller than Kansas City MO..


While KC-MO recorded more than 100 homicides for the 3rd year in a row- our eastern suburb only recorded 10- according to The INDEPENDENCE-BLUE SPRINGS-GRAIN VALLEY EXAMINER.

Old Year Ends- New Year Begins With Shootings in Both Kansas Citys

The gunfire you may have heard in the urban core around midnight was erupting both before and after the Happy New Year hour...


Around 11:05 p.m. Friday night- a 24-year-old male suffered at least 4 gunshot wounds while driving his car in the 300 block of South 10th Street in KC-KS..

There wasn't any good suspect information on who shot the guy- and the victim's condition was serious to critical as KCKFD-EMS  ran hot to a local medical trauma center.



Not even 3 hours into 2011 came a shooting call in the north part of Downtown KC-MO..


The victim was at a gas station/convenience store at 6th Street & Grand- supposedly the shooting stemmed from a disturbance at a nearby nightclub in the 200 block of East Admiral Boulevard- formerly known as Club NrG.

The male victim's injuries were serious- but not immediately life-threatening and police didn't have any good suspect info in this incident either.

Central States News: 3 Die in New Year's Morning Mobile Home Fire in Iowa

An adult and 2 small children were killed in a mobile home fire early Saturday morning southwest of Arlington in Fayette County IA..


Six people lived in the home when the fire broke out around 4 a.m.- three other people- two adults and another child were injured in the fire- according to The CEDAR RAPIDS (IA) GAZETTE.

Toddler Found Wandering The Streets of Shawnee KS New Year's Morning

Shawnee police have returned a 3-year-old child to their home after the child was found wandering the frigid streets of Shawnee early Saturday morning.


The child was found in the 6300 block of Cottonwood Street about 4:20 a.m. without a coat or shoes.

Officers did a house to house check until they located the residence where the child belonged.

The child had reportedly left the residence on their own.


MEDACT was called to check the child for cold exposure- and the toddler was returned to their home without incident.

New Year's Fires Damage Homes in Leawood KS- KC-MO

Two Metro homes are uninhabitable after fires broke out early New Year's morning.


The Leawood fire was in the 10300 block of Wenonga Lane around 3:30 a.m..

Fire crews from Leawood- Overland Park and JoCo Fire District No. 2 fought the flames- mostly from outside- for almost 3 hours before declaring the blaze under control.

Four occupants of the house escaped uninjured and firefighters managed to rescue a dog from inside the house during the fire.


There weren't any injuries and a cause for the fire is under investigation.



KC-MO fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that damaged a home in the 300 block of East 75th Street around 4:35 a.m..

Two handlines were used on that fire- and the flames were declared under control at 4:51 a.m..


An adult and a child has been displaced from this residence and the Red Cross is helping.

Tornado Damages Homes Southwest of St. Louis MO

At 11:34 a.m.- emergency management in Franklin County MO reported a tornado on the ground just northeast of Robertsville.




Robertsville is about 30 miles southwest of St. Louis.


At least 3 homes were damaged near Robertsville- but no reports of serious injuries.




At 11:56 a.m.- another tornado was reported in or near Byrnes Mill in Jefferson county MO..







At this same time- damages to homes and businesses with minor injuries were reported from a tornado in the southwestern St. Louis suburb of Sunset Hills.







T wo fatalities have resulted after a tornado destroyed 3 mobile homes and damaged other structures near Lecoma MO..








One is dead and at least 6 were injured in north Rolla MO when a tornado damaged or destroyed nearly 30 homes about 10:15 a.m. Friday morning.

Tornado At Fort Leonard Wood MO


These pictures will prove that a tornado did indeed touch down around 9:30 a.m. this New year's Eve morning in Fort Leonard Wood MO..




Damage and and "minor" injuries were reported at the Fort Leonard Wood US Army post- but no confirmation on number of the injured.



At least one housing development containing 75 homes was struck- according to news media reports.








High winds and other reports of tornadoes are coming in from these areas eastward toward Rolla and into Metro St. Louis.

At Least 3 Dead- People Missing- In Tornadoes Near Fayetteville AR

The 3 dead are reported in the unincorporated community of Cincinnati- about 15 miles west of Fayetteville.





There are other reports of houses destroyed and people missing in other areas of Washington and Benton counties in northwestern Arkansas after tornadoes touched down in those areas around 6 a.m. New Year's Eve morning.



There was also the report of "lots of injuries" in and around western Washington county Arkansas.



Heavy damage- probably from a tornado- was also reported in nearby Westville Oklahoma- just southwest of the Cincinnati community..




A National Weather Service (NWS) tornado watch was in effect at the time of the tornado touchdowns.


Tornado watches continue this Friday morning for much of central through northern Arkansas as well as south and southeastern through eastern Missouri and western Illinois.

KC-MO Shooting at Hospital Lands 2 in Hospital

KC-MO Police detectives continue investigating a shooting at Research Medical Center (RMC) at Meyer Boulevard and Prospect.


The incident occurred about 1:45 a.m. in the south parking lot of the main building and KC-MO PD officers got the call from RMC security.

Two victims were taken into the nearby emergency room.

One was a male with life-threatening injuries.  The second unknown victim had non life-threatening injuries a KC-MO police source said.


At least 3 vehicles were either involved or damaged in the incident and 2 of those vehicles were being sought by police.

Tornado Strikes Monroe LA With Confirmed Injuries

The tornado struck around noon on Easter Sunday. There is considerable damage repo rted in that northeastern Louisiana city of around 5000...
