CSW WEATHER: Record High Temperature For Kansas City Is Broken Today

Right now- at 1:20 p.m. on this January 28- 2013- the temperature at this weather station in South KC-MO is 75.2 degrees.

Officially- the 1 pm temp at KCI Airport is 71- but that still shatters the old record high temeperature for this date of 65 degrees set in 1917.

In fact- today may be the warmest January day ever since weather records began being compiled here in 1888.

I recall just one other 70+ January day in my 60 years- January 24- 1967 when I recorded a high of 76 and on that day Orrick MO in SW Ray county was struck by a midday tornado.

Officially- the all-time record high for January is 75 degrees set on Jan. 24- 1950.

The warm weather will also bring a chance for thunderstorms overnight tonight into Tuesday- and there is a slight chance some of those storms could reach or exceed severe limits.
