A fire broke out at a south Kansas City MO apartment complex around 11:45 am Thursday morning.
The fire- at the Ruskin Place Apartments in the 11300 block of Blue Ridge- has at least 10 companies of firefighters from KC and Grandview fire departments.
Around noon- the scene battalion chief has reported "two victims" there.
Those victims had yet to be transported to a hospital when the fire was reported "under control" at 12:06 pm..
At 12:20 pm- a KC-MO EMS unit was transporting a "3-year-old male" with injuries from smoke inhalation to Children's Mercy hospital.
The child's medical condition did not sound critical.
No further information was heard on the reported 2nd fire victim- but it was learned later that 2nd person refused EMS transport to a medical facility.
At least four apartments in the two-story building were rendered uninhabitable after the fire- the cause of which is under investigation.
