Missouri River Flood of 2011 - Upper Missouri Reservoir Readings- 5-Day Rainfall Forecast for July 16

CSW BREAKING: Females Assaulted and Raped in Johnson County KS


Two females were taken to hospitals early Saturday morning after unrelated assault incidents.


The first occurred in Overland Park about 12:15 a.m. in the 8600 block of Kessler.

Police report a female went walking after being beaten by her boyfriend.

She was located and MEDACT-EMS took the 22-year-old victim with serious- but not life-threatening injuries- to a Metro hospital.

No word if the boyfriend was contacted and/or arrested by the OPPD....



The second incident was reportedly a rape victim at an apartment complex in Mission.


Police and MEDACT was sent to an apartment in the 6500 block of Foxridge Drive just before 2:15 a.m..

The 23-year-old victim was taken by EMS to an area hospital- and there was yet no suspect or any other information on this incident available.

CSW BREAKING: Partial Building Collapse in Midtown KC-MO

An at least partial building collapse has been confirmed in Midtown Kansas City MO..


The call went out to 5 fire companies at 2:37 p.m. Friday afternoon to the address of 4338 Troost.

Once there at 2:41 p.m.- Pumper Co. 17 reports "a collapse in the rear" of a "3-story brick building" (see Google Street View map image).

The building was reportedly "unoccupied-" actual building addresses affected reported as "4336-4338 and 4338-1/2" Troost.

As a further check and investigation is underway- the sidewalk in front of this building is also being closed to pedestrians and closest lanes on Troost to vehicle traffic.

Johnson County KS Plans Median Cables For Parts of K-10 Highway

There have been several cross-over crashes on Kansas (K)-10 highway that runs from central JoCo to Lawrence and now at least one government wants to take measures to prevent such crashes.


The TOPEKA CAPITAL-JOURNAL reports that the KANSAS CITY STAR reports that the JoCo government plans to install cable median guards on parts of K-10.


One "2-mile" section of cables would be installed around the K-7 interchange- the other area would be near Eudora (which is in Douglas county).

Bank Robbery in Ottawa KS

A few minutes after 10 a.m. Friday morning- a lone male thought to be armed robbed the Great Southern Bank branch on South Princeton in Ottawa.


From the OTTAWA (KS) HERALD- a suspect description was "a white male in his 30s to 40s with a white, scruffy beard, wearing worn and dirty blue jeans, a brown shirt with a plaid long-sleeved shirt over it and a camoflauge(sic)-style hat. A woman with dirty blonde hair was driving the (suspect) vehicle — an older red Chevrolet pick-up truck — the man left the scene in, Butler said. Police are unsure at this time of the woman’s age."


No one was harmed in the robbery and as of yet- no mention of how much $$$ the suspect got in the robbery.

Tuesday Night Storms Cause Damage Metro-wide- Lightning Strike Damages Independence MO Church

Last night's heavy thunderstorms caused damage throughout Metro Kansas City in the form of downed trees- tree limbs- power lines and some roofs damaged.


Nearly 3-inches of rain fell in parts of Shawnee KS during the storm- causing a dramatic rise on area streams of about 6 feet but no flooding.


High winds damaged the roof on an Overland Park KS Public Works building- damaging several trucks parked under it.


Around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning- Independence MO Fire responded on the report of smoke coming from the roof of Englewood Ministries church in the 10600 block of East Winner Road.

Reportedly- lightning had struck the roof of the church during the storm a couple of hours earlier and the fire had smouldered until it was detected.

Fire crews kept the fire damage limited to the roof area- but smoke and water damage was reported elsewhere in the church's interior.


No injuries were reported with a preliminary damage estimate in the several thousand dollar range..

CSW Weather: Cooling Thunderstorms in The Kansas City MetroRegion


Most of these storms shown on the NWS Doppler radar image are of the pop-up variety- heat of the day rising into unstable air.



There are additional shower and thunderstorm chances over the next 24 hours for both Metro and MetroRegion Kansas City.


Some of the stronger thunderstorms could produce damaging wind gusts and possibly hail.

CSW BREAKING: Critical-Injury- "Possible" Fatality Crash in Clinton County MO


Holt MO fire and EMS crews are being assisted at the scene of a 2-vehicle "T-bone" crash in southern Clinton county.



The wreck is on Perrin Road at 209th Street- and was reported to authorities around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.


The Kearney Fire dispatch for mutual-aid for Holt stated that there was "a possible (fatality)" involved in this crash.

There is also reported extrication being performed on "a male" accident patient- and a child was reportedly in one of the vehicles and being treated.

It was shortly after 3 p.m. when it was announced that there were 3 "non-emergency" patient transports to Liberty Hospital.


There was no further mention of any fatality.

CSW BREAKING: Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-435 Near Truman Road in KC-MO

At 1:57 p.m.- reports were coming in to KC-MO emergency services about a vehicle "rollover" crash on southbound I-435 at Truman Road.


Early report from the scene from a fire company says a "dump truck is on it's side" alone with at least "2" other passenger vehicles involved.


There are reported to be "2" people injured- extent unknown yet.


Extrication was also reported to be in progress on one person according to fire department comms at 2:05 p.m..


Expect traffic on I-435 both south and northbound to be at least slowed significantly if not closed until the scene is cleared.

CSW Weather: Chance of Severe Storms in the Kansas City MetroRegion Through Tuesday


The risk factor is "slight" according to forecasters at the NWS' Storm Prediction Center in Norman Oklahoma.



Today's risk area runs generally along and north of U.S. 36 highway in Missouri- including Missouri cities such as St. Joseph- Chillicothe and Kirksville.


Today's forecast is valid until 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.



On Tuesday- the area forecasted for severe storms drops south to generally along and north of Interstate 70- and Metro Kansas City is bisected in that forecast.


Thunderstorms will certainly be a break from this stifling heat- as a NWS "Excessive Heat Warning" continues through Tuesday.

Images of Hurricane-Like Storm As It Hits Chicago


A powerful line of severe thunderstorms swept through the Chicagoland Monday morning- knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of residents.



WGN-9 TV News in Chicago reports 615000 people without electricity around the Windy City as winds as high as 75 m.p.h. struck the area around 8 a.m..



Shown here is a series of images vid-capped from the Wrigley Field Webcam that begin before the storm hits the Wrigleyville area.



Notice the trashcans lining Addison Street in front of Wrigley before the storm struck- and how the powerful wind gusts in the last few images have blown the heavy cans around and into the street.



WGN is reporting several injuries from the storms- as well as several reports of trees and tree limbs downed onto vehicles and a hospitality tent blown down in a Chicago suburb.



That area is under a "moderate risk" of severe storms again later today.

CSW BREAKING; Assist-The-Officer- Shooting Death in KC-MO


An assist-the-officer along with a shooting call resulted in a dead person in the 5800 block of Manchester Monday morning.



The call came out around 9:45 a.m.- and an address in the 8000 block of East 59th Street was also given.


Police had reportedly responded to a disturbance at one of the locations before the assist-the-officer and shooting call came out.


Initial reports say a police officer encountered an armed woman at one of the locations- and the officer ended up fatally shooting the woman.


EMS reported a "D.O.A." at this location shortly after 10 a.m..

CSW BREAKING: Critical-Injury Crash Near Lawrence KS


A juvenile female has critical injuries after a car-bicycle crash on a Douglas county (DgCo) road just south of the Wakarusa river and the City of Lawrence.



The collision occured about 7:20 a.m. Sunday morning at the intersection of County roads North 1100 and East 1500.

Wakarusa Township fire crews and DgCo-EMS found the girl bicyclist in the roadway and unresponsive when they arrived- and a medical helicopter was ordered.


The "13-year-old" was flown to Children's Mercy Hospital in KC-MO with head and other life-threatening injuries.



Douglas county Sheriff's department was investigating the crash.
