At  7:14 p.m.- Holden firefighters as well as companies of Johnson County MO's "Western District" stations were called to the 200 block of North Mary in Holden on the report of "a fully-engulfed" in fire house.

This information was confirmed by first-arriving fire crews at 7:22 p.m.- and additional help has been summoned to the scene.

There are also reported to be "live power lines" down at the fire.

More as/if received....

CSW WEATHER: Snow Increasing

Doppler weather radar indicates snow is increasing upstream from Metro Kansas City.

Snow and blowing snow will increase in intensity over the next several hours over Metro Kansas City- particularily on the Missouri side- with roads probably becoming increasingly slick and hazardous.

Winds and falling temperatures will also become a factor overnight- as the snowfall should decrease in intensity locally after midnight.
________

CSW BREAKING: House Fires at Lake Lotawana- Grandview

Not too many details on this incident yet- but firefighters from at least 2 other fire departments are helping Lake Lotawana MO fire crews in battling a reported house fire in that south-central Jackson County area.

The fire is reported to be in the 1100 block of Lakeshore Drive at Lake Lotawana- and fire crews from Lee's Summit and the Prairie Township Fire Protection District are helping.

Also- Grandview's fire department is in the mop-up stages of a fireplace "flue fire" in a structure in that city- location is not yet known of that fire.

Weather conditions are deteriorating in the Metro- with an increase of snow and winds throughout the evening- along with dropping temperatures and bitter wind chill factors.

No Injuries in Liberty MO House Fire

This fire was reported at 6:04 a.m. when all 3 Liberty fire stations reponded to the 500 block of North Clayview where a house was reported on-fire.

Fire crews arrived at 6:10 a.m. and received a report of a person possibly trapped in a basement bedroom there- but searches of the structure didn't find any bodies.

A KC-MO fire company was sent to the scene to help- and this fire was reported under control by 6:30 a.m..

An investigator is on-scene to determine what caused this fire that heavily-damaged the structure and it's contents.

CSW BREAKING: Three KC-MO Firefighters Hurt in a House Fire

The good news is that the injuries to the 3 firefighters are non life-threatening.

The trouble began with the dispatch of the house fire in the 5600 block of Holmes at 5:38 a.m. Saturday morning.

Pumper 29 rolled-in at 5:42 a.m.- reporting a "working fire" and went inside with "a handline."

At 5:46 a.m.- the firefighters on Pumper 29 report "a mayday-"  they are reportedly trapped inside on the 2nd floor and their handline became inoperative- and a 2nd-alarm response is immediately dispatched.

By 5:50 a.m.- the trapped firefighters have found their way outside.

The 3 males- reported by EMS as ages "43-" "29" and "36-years-old" were taken to Research Med Center with non-major burns and some smoke inhalation.

The fire was brought under control by 5:54 a.m.- and a fire investigator is on-scene to determine the cause.

None of the home's unknown number of occupants were hurt.

CSW BREAKING-EXCLUSIVE: Blue Springs MO Fire Crews Respond to Building Fire - At One Of Their Own Fire Stations

The only thing worse for a firefighter than having to go back and put out a fire you thought you'd already extinguished is responding to a fire call at YOUR OWN fire station.

Such is what happened at 1:42 p.m. Friday afternoon when an alarm went out to four companies of the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District (CJCFPD) to respond to a reported fire in their own Fire Station Number 3 at 803 Northeast Jefferson Street.

A medical helicopter (LifeFlight) is also stationed there.

It was reported to be "a small fire- in the lobby" of the fire station that was quickly doused- and the damage estimate or cause of the fire wasn't yet available from the CJCFD.

At least no one was hurt.

MetroRegion K.C. NEWS: Sedalia Residents Get Hearing Before Kansas City Power and Light Rate-Increase Approved

Many so-called "experts" (many the same ones that claim The Great Recession (Depression) is over) say that so far- inflation in America has been kept in check- although US Government printing presses work overtime printing money.

Try convincing Americans- especially those on fixed incomes with no Social Security COLA increases for 2 YEARS- that inflation is not a worry- with rising taxes- food- fuel- etc. prices.

The SEDALIA DEMOCRAT reporter Matthew Steingraber covered a Missouri Public Service Commission's (MO PSC) formality-only "public hearing" to address an electric rate increase sought by the Kansas CIty Power and Light Company- who also recently bought-out MetroRegion utilities former Aquila Missouri Public Service division and the former Aquila St. Joseph Light and Power division.

Mr. Steingraber reports that the rate increase is "needed to recover costs associated with the construction of Iatan 2 — an 850-megawatt coal-fired power plant that started operating in August — as well as higher operating and service expenses-" according to a KCP&L offical quoted in his story.

You can GOOGLE how the KCP&L got that new- coal-fired power plant rushed through regulatory processes in order to build it and stick we consumers with not only the cost of the questionably-needed plant- but also for it's cost overruns as well as KCP&L executive raises and bonuses.

Also- part of those "operating and service expenses" you will have to look at twice to believe.

Parts of that increase actually goes toward the 'Powerful Light' company's expense of "(covering) its costs of asking for the rate increase-" states a K.C. STAR story on the KCP&L's recently APPROVED rate increase for Kansas customers.

Also- Sedalia's "hearing" began at 5:30 p.m. on a work/weekday- ample time for 9 to 5ers to rush from work to the rate hearing (heh).

MO PSC hearings on rate-increases are typically only utility-nuisance formalities (they recover the cost of such from YOU!)- so Missouri KCP&L customers should prepare to see an increase in your electrical rates soon.

MetroRegion K.C. NEWS: The (Police) Love Affairs of Columbia MO

As much as one may cringe at stories of KC-MO Police officers shooting up their own police cars at backfires and throwing "flash" bombs into people's homes indiscriminately- as well as other area police shenanigans- comes this story why married Columbia MO Deputy Police Chief has suddenly resigned from the force.

News sites Keep Columbia Free.com and The COLUMBIA MISSOURIAN both report the abrupt resignation of CPD Deputy Chief Thomas Dresner because his love affair with a "subordinate" female officer on the CPD force was about to go public.

"I've Got A Secret" Says Lee's Summit Officials Regarding Use of Taxpayer Money For Private Firm

Municipalities are increasingly resorting to keeping secrets when it comes to using taxpayer dollars to woo corporations to their cities.

Regular readers of CSW know about KC-MO's "secrets" regarding a proposed 1000 room convention hotel that will absolutely need heavy taxpayer-provided corporate welfare.

Now- according to a "breaking news" story this morning in the LEE'S SUMMIT (MO) JOURNAL- 2 companies possibly coming to Lee's Summit have had the carrot of "incentives" dangled before them.

According to the LSJ story- the name of one of the companies is being kept from the very taxpayers financing their "incentive."

The other company whose name is not being kept secret- "Exergonix-" stands to receive "an incentive package of between $10.9 million and $11.5 million in tax abatement (also known at CSW and the rest of the Real World as "taxpayer welfare for corporations")."

Lee's Summit residents- hold tight to your wallets....

CSW BREAKING: Junior Arsonists Disrupt KC-MO's Southwest High School Again

This time- the fire is reported in 2 trash cans on 1st and 2nd floor boy's bathrooms of this troubled school at 6512 Wornall.

Oddly- an automatic fire alarm had initially been dispatched at 9:05 a.m. Friday morning- then was cancelled a minute later by dispatch as per notification "from the alarm company."

However at 9:10 a.m.- KC-MO Fire dispatch sent out a five-company response "regular alarm" to the school.

Pumper 37 arrived at 9:13 a.m. to report nothing visible- but the school was "being evacuated" of students and faculty.

The 2 fires are quickly put out- and an arson invesigator has been summoned to the scene.

NOTE: The "corporate" news media in this town has quit reporting these disruptions (apparently until it gets REALLY serious)- but prior incidents during this school year at Southwest High School can be found in THIS (and other) CSW post.

Central States NEWS: Lee's Summit Man Dead After Being Struck By A Car in Springfield MO

KC-MO City Officials Willing To Ursurp Citizens' Rights- Spend Taxpayer Money On 'Special' E-Tax Election

The KANSAS CITY STAR reports tonight that the election to continue K.C's 'Earnings Tax' will be held April 5th in 2011.

Never mind there is ALREADY a city election scheduled for March 22nd next year.

That's when Kansas City MO voters get the chance to throw the WHOLE lot- Mayor and 'Clowncilpeople' alike- out on the streets.

But rather than hold the E-Tax election that same day- KC-MO elected officials figure taxpayers won't miss the estimated $300-500000K cost to hold that special election- just for the E-Tax- in April.

But- get this- The STAR story states that those same city officials willing to waste YOUR money on a special election hopes there won't be any special E-Tax election at all.

Even though the E-Tax question was brought this far by THE PEOPLE petitioning the State for an election- then THE PEOPLE who voted for this election in November via Proposition A- KC-MO's elected officials have- according to The STAR's story "filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Proposition A."

INDEED!!!

CSW will continually campaign AGAINST those brazen KC-MO officials and their brethren seeking re-election in March- and- seeing how city officials care neither about city finances or it's citizen's rights- we'll be AGAINST continuation of this city's 'Earnings Tax.'

CSW COMMENTARY: The Utter Hypocrisy of America's "Christian" Politicians - Volume 1697

Good politicians can spin virtually anything into something else...

Doing my daily reads of Central States online newspapers- I came across a story in The TULSA (OK) WORLD that caught my attention.

It reads where certain persons- particularly an Oklahoma U.S. senator- were upset because a Tulsa Christmas celebration removed the word 'Christmas' from the celebration's title.

So- I thought- let's check out that Senator's voting record in Washington in regard to his "Christian charity" toward those less fortunate/connected in America.

After reading the list- the ONLY non-obscene word I could conjure up regarding this "Christian" senator was HYPOCRITE.

Central States NEWS: Sioux City Residents Join KC-MO Taxpayers Stuck Paying For Civic Fluff Projects

I consider civic fluff projects as amenities that have nothing to do with a city's necessary infrastructure: pro or minor league sports stadiums- arenas- urban-renewal "entertainment" areas- etc.- etc. etc..

Kansas City MO taxpayers are presently getting hit with $10-15-million-per-year payouts for the 'Power & Light District' and soon to get fleeced again with an unneeded downtown convention hotel (hey- pay NO attention to the steep water and sewer rate increases behind the curtain).

INjustice In America: The Glenn Stevens Saga - Another Joins Boycott of Walmart

Regular readers of CSW now know all about the false charges of theft brought against honest and hard-working Raymore and American citizen Glenn Stevens by MegaCorporation Walmart and certain law enforcement agencies seemingly in Walmart's HUGE corporate pockets.

Mr. Stevens' story should frighten ANY and ALL American citizens- for if The Law can come for a man like Glenn Stevens- they can come to YOU and ME with any charge The Law wants to hit you with- and force YOU and ME to PROVE OUR OWN INNOCENCE,

Glenn Steven's children are in the ring with their Dad- fighting as best they can and tying up all their own financial resources trying to beat these Twilight Zone-like charges that would astound even a 15-year-old pre-law student.

Kansas City Metro-MetroRegion Weather: Snow Saturday?

Sorry- now I'M asking readers weather-forecast questions like the TV people do their viewers...

The answer is: it LOOKS like snow- or like frozen wintery-type precipitation this coming Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

The images shown here are GFS weather-model forecast maps for Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at midnight- showing an intensifying low-pressure system in Missouri- wrapping-around more cold air and possibly snow into the K.C. MetroRegion and Metro.

Note particularily the blue- 0-degree Centigrade or 32-degree Fahrenheit line and the green-shaded precipitation area as it is in relation to Kansas City and our surrounding MetroRegion.

It shows us to be at or below 32-degrees and in the soup.

How much snow is really too early to tell with any certainty- but if the map scenario holds up- at least several inches are possible here in Kansas City.

Stay tuned- as I'm watching developing weather situation this closely....

Once again- if I turned-down either the endless commercials AND/OR the endless host chatter- I would have missed the approximately 3 minutes total that I actually HEARD Glenn Stevens talk.

KMBZ should SERIOUSLY consider hiring Denver talk-radio host Rick Barber.

Rick's a political pragmatist who actually lets his guests- and the people who call in- TALK!
