Lawrence Fire-Douglas County EMS were spared calls when two victims of a shooting and a stabbing were driven to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital (LMH) emergency room early Sunday.
Lawrence police investigated a large disturbance outside Liberty Hall at 644 Massachusetts St. just after 1:30 a.m.- where a man who had been stabbed multiple times had left the area.
That man- a 20-year-old- later showed up at LMH- was given life-stabilizing treatment for his wounds- then transported by ambulance to K.U. Med Center in KC-KS..
Then about an hour later at 2:30 a.m.- a call is received from the emergency room of LMH that a male victim of a gunshot wound to his abdomen had arrived there.
The injury was from a reported shooting at the South Pointe Apartments in the 2300 block of West 26th Street.
The 23-year-old man's injuries were serious to critical- and he was also transferred to another higher-level trauma center- in Topeka.
