Metro KC Dodges Bullet With Excessive Rain Event
Heavy showers and thunderstorms moved through Metro Kansas City with the heaviest amounts near and along the I-35 corridor from Johnson county KS into Clay county MO..
Refer to the map image- you can see slightly over 4-inches fell on one of the 4 Rock Creeks located around the Metro- this particular creek runs from the south part of the KC-MO Northland into Avondale into North KC..
Some flooding did occur in NKC- but the creek has since receded.
Three-inch amounts fell further north in the Line Creek and Shoal Creek watersheds.
Some high water was reported in eastern Gladstone along another Rock Creek- but that water too has subsided.
Two to three-inch totals were observed along Turkey Creek from near Shawnee into southern KC-KS- but no flooding occurred along the Turkey.
Note that no measurable rain fell at the gage located at M-350 and the Little Blue River in far southeastern KC-MO (Knobtown).
