Spring Hill KS Football Player Who Died Had A Previous Head Injury

Firstly- my most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Spring Hill High School senior Nathan Stiles.


Mr. Stiles was knocked unconscious while playing in the Spring Hill vs.Osawatomie High school football game Thursday night.

He was then flown from the field by medical helicopter to K.U. Med Center in Kansas City KS where he later passed away.


The KANSAS CITY (MO) STAR is reporting that Nathan Stiles had suffered "a concussion" in a football game "earlier this month-" but had been "cleared" to return to play before last night's game.

Reno Nevada WalMart Employee Holding Store Hostage

It's reported by the ASSOCIATED PRESS and other e-news sources that a man with a gun- reported to be an employee- is holed-up in the back room of a Reno NV Walmart store.

The gunman reportedly entered the store right before this morning's opening- and he shot 3 people including the store's manager.

All the shooting victims were expected to live.


As far as police know- there are no other people with the man.


No one can yet confirmed if the man was upset at WalMart's new employee profit-sharing plan....

Two-Alarm Fire in Southern Kansas City KS Apartment Complex

The fire is in a building at the apartment complex at 1000 West County Line Road in extreme south KC-KS..


The first alarm was sounded around 2:13 p.m.- and a working fire was reported when the first-in companies arrived.



At 2:18 p.m.- a chief on the scene reported "freon and propane tanks in the basement" of the "3-story" structure which houses the complex's maintenance department.

A 2nd-alarm was sounded at that time.

The firefight moved from inside to the outside of the building when there were collapses of the building's roof at 2:35 p.m..

A chief also reports that this fire "appears to be intentionally set."

Over the past 2 weeks- CSW has heard several "false alarm" fire department calls to this complex- and to this building.


No injuries have been reported as of this report with the fire reported "under control" at 3 p.m...


Other KC-KS fire crews were called at 2:52 p.m. to the 300 block of South Boeke- where there's a "fully-involved" shed fire.


Fire coverage in southern and eastern KC-KS is very low at this report.

CSW BREAKING: Classroom Hall on the University of Kansas Campus Evacuated Due To Ammonia Leak

Malott Hall on the K.U. campus was evacuated Friday afternoon after a leak of a chemical substance occurred there.

The original call came in as a "pull station" or manual fire alarm turned in to the fire department around 2:05 p.m..

Arriving companies then reported the leak of small containers of "ammonium hydroxide."

Additional fire crews- along with Lawrence and Douglas County 'Haz-Mat' crews were dispatched at 2:15 p.m. when a complete evacuation of students and faculity from Malott Hall- near 'Wescoe Beach-' was under way.

The leaking containers were removed from the building and fire and Haz-Mat crews undertook a "decontamination" of the areas affected.

At least one person was treated for a "minor injury" related to this incident- according to a LFD source.

Groundbreaking Ceremony for New KC-MO South Patrol Police Station

CSW's live camera was at the groundbreaking of the new South Patrol and Special Operations police station near I-435 and Bannister Road this Friday morning.

 More videos of this event are at the Capt. Spaulding's World YouTube page.

Speakers included KC-MO Police Chief James Corwin and Councilpersons John Sharp and Cathy Jolly.


This new South Patrol station will only be about 2-1/2 miles from the recently opened Metro Patrol station in the 7700 block of Prospect.


This new station will contain public as well as police facilities- which also included a "backup 911 center" according to the KC-MO Police press release.


Completion of the station is set for 2013.

CSW BREAKING: Reported "Bug-Bomb" Starts Fire That Damages Grandview MO Home

At 11:57 a.m.- Grandview firefighters got the call of a house fire in the 6200 block of East 139th Street.


It was reportedly a "fire in the basement- possibly caused by a bug-bomb" and there was smoke showing from the 1-story structure with the occupants outside when the first fire crew arrived at 12:01 p.m..

The fire is reported out at 12:10 p.m.- but caused smoke damage throughout the residence.

Reports are that "kids" were at home at the time- with the parents summonded from their place of emploment in Belton.


No injuries resulted and fire and building inspectors were ordered to the scene.

CSW BREAKING: Disruptions Continue at KC-MO's Southwest High School With Bathroom Fire

There was a reported fire in a bathroom of Southwest High just a few days ago- now- another fire alarm has been reported at that school.


This alarm went out at 9:38 a.m. for the school at 6512 Wornall- this time- dispatch announced "the school was being evacuated."

Pumper 29 arrives at 9:43 a.m. to report nothing showing from the 4-story building and at 9:44 a.m.- 29's announces "it's a trash can on fire that's supposed to be out."


This incident too is minor- but yet another almost daily disruption at the-still "college magnet school" that now has former Westport High School students as well.

The fire is in a house in the 600 block of North Iowa.

The original alarm went out at 6:05 p.m. with the 2nd-alarm sounded at 6:19 p.m..

No reports of injuries thus far.

Belton MO Home Damaged By Fire

At 5:02 p.m.- Belton firefighters were called to a house fire in the 15500 block of Allen- just east of the U.S. 71 and 155th/County Line interchange.


Fire crews from the South Metro and West Peculiar departments also responded.

Belton crews didn't need their help- but when the BFD arrived at 5:07 p.m. there was "smoke showing."

The occupants were outside and BFD crews made an interior attack on what appeared to be an attic fire- mostly extinguished by 5:30 p.m..


No injuries have been reported- and no report as to the fire's cause for awhile.

Triple-Murder Suspect Joshua Maylee Captured in Cooper County MO

Residents of Central Missouri around Columbia and Jefferson City can rest easy- triple-murder suspect Joshua William Maylee was taken into custody near Boonville this Thursday afternoon.


As reported here at CSW yesterday- Maylee was wanted after he shot 4 people near Holts Summit MO yesterday.

Three of those victims were killed by Maylee- the 4th- a woman and wife of one of those murdered- was recovering in a Columbia hospital.


Regardless- EVERYONE can rest easy tonight- as Mr. Joshua Maylee is now in police custody.

CSW BREAKING: House Fire in Southeastern Lenexa KS

Five companies of Lenexa and Olathe firefighters are battling a fire in a home in the 11300 block of Acuff Lane.


The alarm was sounded at 1:27 p.m. for a reported fire "on the outside" of the home.

The first fire crews arriving at 1:32 p.m. reported smoke and fire showing- a minute later it's reported "all occupants are out" of the burning house.

At 1:50 p.m.- an additional Lenexa Fire department ladder truck was sent to the scene.

It sounds as if the home will be heavily-damaged as fire crews have alternated exterior and interior attacks on the fire.


No injuries or any other information is available as of this update at 1:55 p.m.....

CSW BREAKING: Apartment Building Fire in Bonner Springs KS

The alarm sounded at 11:43 a.m. for a reported "deck fire in the apartments" in the 400 block of North Bluegrass Drive in Bonner Springs.


When the first fire crews arrived about 5 minutes later- they reported "smoke and fire showing" from the balcony and side of one of the buildings- the address seemingly erronously given at that time as "431 SOUTH Bluegrass" where there are no apartments located- according to GOOGLE and BING aerial map sources.

The Tiblow Village apartments is where the fire is located- shown here in the 400 block of NORTH Bluegrass Drive.


No injuries nor requests for any mutual-aid firefighting help has been heard so far- and the fire has been reported "under control" at 12:04 p.m..

CSW Central States BREAKING: Major Fire Continues in Grant City MO

A fire continues to burn in buildings on the west side of the Worth county Missouri square in Grant City.


The SAINT JOSEPH NEWS-PRESS reports that the fire started shortly after noon- and has so far "destroyed three buildings" and continues in a fourth building- housing an auto repair shop- as of 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.


Grant City is about 90 miles north of Downtown Kansas City.


So far- no injuries had been reported- with 3 of the 4 fire-involved buildings housing Grant City businesses.

CSW Central States BREAKING: Triple-Murder Suspect on the Lamm Causes Concern- Lockdown of Columbia MO Hospital

aw agencies throughout central Missouri are looking for the white male suspect in three murders at 3682 County Road 488 near Holts Summit in Callaway county MO Wednesday morning.



Police are seeking 23-year-old Joshua William Maylee- responsible for the killings of 46-year-old Jeffrey J. Werdehausen- 48-year-old Eugene A. Pinet- and 57-year-old Jackie L. Pinet.



A 4th victim- 41-year-old Gina M. Werdehausen who was the wife of victim Jeffery- received non life-threatening gunshot wounds and was taken to a Columbia hospital.



And- according to The COLUMBIA (MO) TRIBUNE- the University Hospital in Columbia has been "locked-down" as a precaution "on the remote possibility" Maylee would show up there to confront the female victim of the morning shooting.



This reportedly caused confusion on the M.U. campus with the bogus e-media reports of a shooting on-campus.



Joshua Maylee is on-the-loose as of 6:30 p.m's last report ...


He is possibly located in Cole, Callaway or Morgan counties- and is being sought by the Missouri Highway Patrol (MOHP) as well as the sheriff's and municipal police departments in those counties and throughout the state...


Maylee is described as "being about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, balding and blue-eyed.

He might be driving a brown or black Dodge truck or a silver Pontiac Bonneville with the Missouri license plate SC1S5S."

Central States 'Nice News' - Lincoln NE Suburb Plans Unique Drive-In Theater Design for New Park

Those "Baby-boomers" growing up in Kansas City during the 1950's-60's and 70's remember Whizzo- Torey and Ole' Gus- WHB and the drive-in theater...


My memories were of the 63rd Street- Crest- Fairyland- Heart- I-70- 40 Highway- North and South Twins- Boulevard- Hillcrest and Riverside drive-in theaters in Metro Kansas City.

You may be able- I'm sure- to add to that list.

According to this story in the OMAHA (NE) WORLD-HERALD- the Lincoln suburb of Hickman Nebraska is developing plans for a recreational area in their growing city.

Included in the design that would be implemented over four phases of construction is a drive-in theater configuration that would include "a collapsible (movie) screen."

The area could also be used for other events when movies aren't being shown.

CSW BREAKING: Automatic Fire Alarm Response to KC-MO's Southwest High School Upgraded

Two KC-MO fire companies were sent at 11:42 a.m. Wednesday to Southwest High School at 6512 Wornall on a reported "automatic fire alarm- in a 3rd-floor boy's bathroom."

Before those companies arrived- 3 more companies were dispatched to the school on an "upgraded" regular alarm fire response.

The first company to arrive is Pumper 37 at 11:47 a.m.- reporting "nothing showing from the exterior" of the "4-story building-" then 30 seconds later reported "the fire's out" in that boy's restroom.

Oddly- the FD reports as 11:50 a.m. that students and teachers at the school had "not evacuated" the building.

No injuries are reported- but a fire investigator has been sent to the scene.

This is just one in a long string of disruptions at the once-proud school in the beleagered KC-MO School District.

Republicrat Roy Blunt Tries To Dodge K.C. TV News Reporters

Republicrat Roy Blunt wants to continue his reign so he and his entourage came to Lee's Summit MO this Wednesday morning.


According to KSHB-41 Action News- "Twenty years ago, Blunt wrote letters to the INS to help an immigrant woman. The Democratic Party says he was “pulling strings” for her despite his current tough talk against immigration."

KSHB reporter Chris Hernandez and KMBC's Michael Mahoney attempted to ask Blunt about that.
Blunt bluntly (heh) told the reporters as he was walking away with a scowl on Blunt's face to "read the statement" that Blunt's political handlers put out about the immigrant woman incident.



Vote for Roy Blunt November 2nd and let's CONTINUE the lies- bullshit and business as usual in Washington D.C.!

CSW BREAKING: Electrical Fire in Lexington MO Elderly Care Facility

Fire companies from throughout Lafayette county have responded to Lexington MO- where it has been reported there is an electrical fire inside the Lexington Care Center at 1221 South M-13 highway.

The alarm sounded around 9:45 a.m.- and at 9:50 a.m.- a Lexington fire crew reported the "building is filled with smoke" there.

No reports yet of any injuries or progress of the fire- but my reporting partner KSHB-41 Action News reports that "around 100 people have been evacuated" from the facility and- as of about 10:20 a.m.- fire crews had "not found" the source of the fire.

Thirty Out of Thousands Arrested For Trespassing After MU-OU Game

For those of you who watched the University of Missouri beat the University of Oklahoma at football last weekend- you may recall the crowds that stormed the field after the game.


Incredibly- lawmen arrested 30 out of the thousands who swarmed the field and removed the goal posts in less than 3 minutes.


KSHB-41 Action News reports that a Missouri State senator- Kurt Schaefer- wants authorities to drop the charges against the 30 arrested.

High Winds Cause Havoc in the Central States

KC-MO Car Chase Ends in Overland Park

Suspects- a male and a female in a Ford truck- attempted to elude both Independence and KC-MO police late Tuesday afternoon- resulting in at least one crash in south KC-MO..


According to KSHB41 ActionNews- this chase began in Independence.


We were informed of the chase at 4:15 p.m.- as the suspects were driving northbound in the southbound lanes of U.S. 71/Watkins Expressway near 85th Street at speeds of "80 m.p.h.."

At 4:16 p.m.- the suspect's vehicle struck a vehicle that was southbound a few hundred yards south of 75th Street.

Injuries to the occupant of the struck vehicle- a "red Dodge" police said- were minor.

The Ford truck exits U.S. 71 at the southbound entrance ramp and chase continued west on 75th Street from U.S. 71- the suspects blowing through red traffic signals- to Troost- then southbound "at speeds around 80 m.p.h.."

The suspects turn west from Troost to Bannister (95th Street) Road at 4:23 p.m.- driving around stopped traffic at Holmes- and through red lights the whole way into Kansas.

It was at 4:27 p.m. when the suspects turned north off of 95th Street west of Linden into the Meadowbrook Golf course where the male ran.

The man- who the police believe is "part of" some "ring" then jumped into the lake on the south end of the golf course and attempted to swim away.

Officers from Independence and KC-MO as well as Leawood- Prairie Village and Overland Park KS surrounded the lake- and the suspect- said by police to be "Gary Wright-" swam out to awaiting handcuffs at 4:31 p.m..

Concordia KS's Whitney Hillman

So- Miss Hillman saved a chicken- raised in an agricultural class at the Concordia High School- from certain death.


Miss Hillman received a "2-day suspension" for her humanitarian act- states the story from The KANSAS CITY STAR.

You are a decent and kind Human Being Whitney- a person I would be PROUD to know.


Our America- where we turn a blind eye to violence and gore- but for GOD"S SAKE keep the peace and lovemaking off the screen!

CSW BREAKING: Car In A Lake in KC-MO's Northland

At 7:42 a.m.- a Shoal Creek Zone police officer reported a "the taillights of a car in the water" in the Chaumiere Park lake southwest of the I-35 and North Chouteau Trafficway.


Fire department rescue crews as well as EMS were dispatched.

Rescuers are currently accessing the vehicle to determine if it was occupied.


As of 7:59 a.m.- a Fire department battalion chief said "there's no one in the (sunken) car."

Another Reason For America To Leave Afghanistan

Let's forget for a minute that America simply CANNOT AFFORD TO BE THE WORLD'S POLICE.


Let's also forget we're just sending American youth off to learn to kill people- and don't forget they learn QUICK.

American soldiers are on trial for making "a game" out of killing Afghans- according to this Associated Press story.

One American soldier who "blew the whistle" on this "game" is being kept in solitary confinement "for his protection" until the trial begins.

Marshall MO Firefighter Found Dead Sunday Morning

t is with sadness that I report the passing of  a brother firefighter- this in Marshall MO east of Kansas City
.



The MARSHALL DEMOCRAT reports that 36-year-old Randall Davenport- a married father of two young daughters- passed away Sunday morning at the Marshall firehouse.


According to the U.S. Fire Administration report: "Firefighter Davenport was found deceased on Sunday morning at the Marshall Firehouse within hours of fighting two structure fires. The cause of Firefighter Davenport death is still to be determined."


CSW offers our most sincere condolences to Firefighter Randall Davenport's family and friends....

Shooting Injures Man Sunday Morning on KC-Independence MO Border

To cap-off (heh) a very busy pre-dawn Sunday morning- a 34-year-old man was reportedly shot twice in an incident that took place in far eastern KC-MO..


The shooting occurred around 2:40 a.m. in the area of U.S. 40 highway and Phelps Road- where an Independence officer found the victim.

The man had reportedly been shot through the back window of the vehicle he was in- and suffered 2 gunshot wounds to his right shoulder.


Around that same time- a vehicle crash came in to authorities in the 15000 block of East U.S. 40.

An "18-year-old pregnant female" suffered a minor "knee injury" in that crash- according to an AMR-EMS unit that ran the call "mutual-aid" for KC-MO's FD-EMS.

The driver refused EMS treatment or transport- and some reports were that this crash occurred as the couple was "trying to get away from the shooting."


Police haven't confirmed that aspect of this two-pronged incident.

CSW BREAKING: Southbound I-35 Now Open in Johnson County KS

I-35 Southbound Remains Closed After Shooting Involving A Kansas State Patrol Trooper

Details are still forthcoming over a shooting just after midnight Sunday morning on southbound Interstate 35 just south of Antioch Road in Merriam.


The incident- reported here first in Kansas City at CSW- reportedly involved a Kansas State Patrol trooper on a "car stop."

Emergency responders at 12:12 a.m. had been advised that "C.P.R." was being performed on a victim at that scene.

Johnson County MEDACT-1133 had transported "a 26-year-old female" with 2 critical gunshot wounds to a hospital afterwards- but no mention was made of any C.P.R. having been done on their patient.



Southbound I-35 remains closed at Antioch Road more than 5 hours after this shooting- and Kansas City news media are awaiting ANY official information on this incident that well may involve a fatality.

Major House Fire in Leawood KS

Five companies of the Leawood and Johnson County Fire District 2 fire departments are battling a "fully-involved" house fire in the 10300 block of Wenonga Lane.


The alarm sounded at 4:26 a.m. Sunday morning- and it was reported the house's occupants were "on vacation."

Aerial and pumper truck deck streams were used on the fire and it was feared the fire would spread to 2 house to the north in the brisk southerly winds.

In addition- "two water main breaks" were reported in the area during this fire.


There have been no reports of injuries yet and the fire has not been declared under control as of 5 a.m..
