Two-Alarm Olathe KS House Fire Possibly Lightning-Caused

amage is severe to a 2-1/2-story house in the 18500 block of West 114th Street in northern Olathe.



Five companies of Olathe and Lenexa firefighters got the call at 12:50 a.m. Saturday morning- and "heavy" smoke and fire was coming from the roof of the house when the first fire unit arrived at 12:54 a.m..

The fire spread throughout the structure- and threatened the house next door while aerial heavy water streams were raised to fight the flames from above while the occupants who escaped safely watched.

More crews were needed- and at 1:09 a.m.- a 2nd-alarm was sounded for the fire.

The at least 8 fire companies brought the fire under control at 1:32 a.m. and as of 2:25 a.m.- no injuries had been reported.


Lightning as a cause of the fire is reportedly being investigated- according to witnesses.
