KSHB's Helicopter Crew Recognized by KC-MO Police For Pursuit Help

O
n December 15 of last year- KSHB's news helicopter pilot Gregg Bourdon and photographer Tom Babb followed 2 suspects in a car down busy I-35 during evening 'drive-time' that KC-MO Police had quit pursuing due to safety concerns.

"Captain Gregg" and Mr. Babb followed the suspects with their helicopter-mounted TV camera into Overland Park and helped apprehend the driver of that vehicle after he ran into an apartment building after the chase ended off Shawnee-Mission Parkway.

Today- the KC-MO Police recognize Messrs. Bourdon and Babb with "certificates of appreciation" for their help during that chase (likely another award is also due after the "Red Jeep Chase" a few weeks ago too)- according to The KANSAS CITY STAR.

There are open debates around when news people get involved in police matters- but in this and the "Red Jeep" cases- I'm not debating ANY assistance members of the public can offer in ridding our streets of thugs and criminals who put the general public in IMMEDIATE danger.

CONGRATULATIONS "Captain Gregg" and Tom Babb!!!
