Suspects Shot At Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy in KC-MO

While KC-MO officers were sorting out details and Channel 41 News photojournalist Al Miller was videoing a shooting scene near Southwest Boulevard and Broadway Sunday morning- all of them looked around when they heard shots fired nearby just before 3:30 a.m..

It was very soon reported that a Jackson County Sheriff's department deputy was "chasing a red Nissan- possibly a vehicle taken in a carjacking- in the area of Cesar Chavez (23rd Street) and Jarboe" on the West Side.

It was also reported by a KC-MO police dispatcher that "a Hispanic male was hanging out of the passenger-side window shooting at the deputy" during the chase.

The carjacking had occurred about 3:20 a.m. around Southwest Boulevard and 29th Street- where two people from the jacked car had been "pistol-whipped" by the robbers.

At 3:40 a.m.- that Red Nissan was reportedly found abandonned at "24th Street and Jarboe" and a perimeter was established and the manhunt was on for the reported "4 Hispanic males" that had occupied the Nissan.

The sheriff's deputy wasn't injured- but his vehicle was reportedly struck by bullets.

Police were also trying to obtain a search warrant for a residence in the 2300 block of Holly in relation to this incident as of 4:45 a.m.- and had surrounded that house as of 5:30 a.m..
