Central States NEWS: Morning Earthquake near Oklahoma City Upgraded to a 5.1

The Central States are known for our changeable- sometimes violent weather- not earthquakes.


Just after 9 a.m. this Wednesday morning- what what initially reported as a "4.3" quake that was recently upgraded to "5.1" struck with an epicenter reported by The OKLAHOMA CITY (OK) OKLAHOMAN as being "8 miles southeast of Norman.

Two injuries have been reported according to the OKLAHOMAN.

There are no reports of "major" damage- although The OKLAHOMAN said several people reported "cracks to walls" and objects falling.

In addition- a friend of CSW who resides in Eufaula OK which is about 150 miles east of Oklahoma City/Norman reported feeling the quake.

This is also the 2nd-largest earthquake ever reported in that state.

The biggest was a "5.5" quake that occurred near El Reno on April 9, 1952.
