Breaking and Other Sunday Morning K.C. MetroRegion Structure Fires

First- the breaking news of "a large house" on fire in Johnson county MO....

The alarm sounded for Leeton and other JoCo-area fire districts around 6 a.m. for the address in the 800 block of Southeast 601 Road- several miles southwest of Whiteman Air Force Base.

The caller reportedly told JoCoMO 9-1-1 that "it was his parent's house on fire" and that "the parents were in Kansas City" and not in the burning house.

As of 6:30 a.m.- the house was reported to be "fully-engulfed" in flames as fire crews using only trucked-in water fight the fire with no injuries reported.

At least 2 apartments in a building in the 3900 block of Roanoke were damaged by a fire reported just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

A kitchen fire in a 2nd-floor apartment managed to spread to an empty 3rd-floor apartment before 6 companies of KC-MO firefighters managed to finally stop the flames by 2 a.m..

No one was hurt- but the American Red Cross was requested to assist an unknown number of displaced building occupants.
