Riverside Police Shoot- Kill An Allegedly Armed Man



A disturbance call in Riverside Thursday afternoon ended with police shooting and killing a man in a wooded area a stones' throw from the Public Safety (police) building.


Police were alerted to the call just before 3 p.m. to a residence near the intersection of Northwest Vivion Road and High Drive.

The man causing the disturbance- reportedly armed with a gun- had left the residence and went into an adjacent wooded area and RPD officers followed.

The RPD-PIO says the man made "an aggressive move" toward the police- and at least 2 officers shot at the man- killing him.

No comment on a) what the disturbance was about- b) the identity of the dead man- or c) the names of the RPD officers who did the shooting who will be on paid leave pending an investigation of the shooting by other police departments.
