CSW WEATHER: NWS "Winter Storm Watch" - Southern Half of Metro-MetroRegion K.C.

S
ince the bulk of this storm is expected to hit on Saturday which is the first "official" day of Spring- shouldn't this be a "Early Spring Storm Watch?"

Anyway- the NWS has this watch-out for wintry weather Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon generally along and south of the Kansas and Missouri rivers or the south half of Metro Kansas City and MetroRegion (refer to "Central States" map graphic).

Although at least initially the ground and air temperatures will be above freezing- heavy snow (at least 6-inches?) is likely to overcome those factors and at least accumulate slush on paved surfaces on Saturday morning and overnight into Sunday.

The good news? Any snow on the ground should melt away by Tuesday at the latest as temperatures pass the 60-degree mark.
