KANSAS CITY WEATHER: High Winds Causing Power Outages

South winds have been gusting as high as 50 m.p.h. across Metro Kansas City this afternoon.

The high winds have brought tree limbs down on power lines throughout the older portions of the Metro - particularily midtown and northeast K.C..

One call just received was "a tree down on power lines and a car" in the 5000 block of Wabash. A fire department pumper on the scene reports "a large tree down on a large power line- live- and Wabash's blocked" there - but no injuries.

The winds should subside toward sunset as we enjoy some of the warmest temperatures - oddly enough - since late April.
