"Thousands Evacuated" in Metro Amarillo TX Wildfires

Dry conditions and strong shifting winds continue to maintain wildfires within a 20 miles northeast and southeast of Amarillo TX at this hour.

The AMARILLO GLOBE NEWS online reports the wildfires have "destroyed 47 homes" in Potter and Randall counties where "thousands" of residents in those areas ordered to evacuate.

An unknown number of animals of nearly 3 dozen total were killed when fire swept over a kennel in Willow Creek.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday night- KFDA-TV10 in Amarillo  says there's only been one human injury- a county deputy who experienced non life-threating smoke inhalation.
