CSW BREAKING: Person Critically-Injured After Shooting During A Home Robbery in South KC-MO

It was 3:01 a.m.- and sitting here in the radio room doing my job as overnight assignment desk editor for KHSB-41 and CSW News- I hear two rapid-fire- the three more gunshots somewhere close outside.

Not knowing where exactly the gunfire was coming from- I still call 9-1-1.

It turns out it's up the street from me.

At 3:03 a.m.- KC-MO Metro and South Zones dispatch reports "a residential burglary in progress at 8604 Winchester" with suspects reported as "3 black males."

A man has been shot there- police determine after they arrive at 3:06 a.m. (as shown on CSW YouTube videos found HERE).

KC-MO FD-EMS transports "a 38-year-old male- shot in the chest- both arms and the upper thigh" to a Southland medical trauma center- in critical condition.

A police officer at the scene told CSW (moi) that this appeared to be "an armed residence robbery."

Occupants of the home- "an adult female and (2) children" were not injured.

Police were still  investigating the scene as of 6 a.m..

No confirmed suspect information.

This sort of stuff is WAY too close for comfort!

That had to be a few scary minutes for you I am sure. Can't be good to hear gun shots and not really know what is going on or who is running around shooting a gun.
Scary world out there anymore.
