Other than charges reported as "felony eluding" police officers- they were pursuing a GM-product sedan from northbound U.S. 71-Bruce Watkins Expressway and 24th Street- then west on I-670 and I-70 into Kansas- with those law agencies notified.
By 2 a.m. the pursuit was near Central Avenue on I-670- where other officers managed throw-out road spikes ("Stop Sticks") and blow-out at least 2 of the suspect vehicle's tires- but the sedan continues on at speeds of 60-70 mph- losing pieces of tire.
At 2:01 a.m.- the suspect vehicle continues west on I-70- then exits at Park Drive/Kaw Drive to continue west on Kaw Drive (K-32) 3 miles to the Turner Diagonal.
The suspect sedan- now at least 2 tires shredded and "driving on (wheel) rims-" turns north on Turner Diagonal to State Avenue then heads east- with the KC-MO Police helicopter above- on State
At police-reported speeds of "60-70 mph" and the suspect driving on "at least 2 (wheel) rims-" at 2:09 a.m.- the chased sedan car slams "head-on" into one- then another vehicle at or near "57th Street and State."
Two people have to be extricated from the crash- believed to be from the suspect vehicle.
A driver- reported by KC-KS FD-EMS as "an approximately 30-year-old male driver" was taken to K.U. Medical Center in critical condition.
The 2nd patient was "a 26-year-old female who is 2 months pregnant-" also taken to K.U. but in good condition.
Three people in other vehicles involved in the crash "refused" EMS treatment or transports to a hospital.
Police from both states were investigating- and it's not yet known what precipitated the chase in the first place.
