A Staff of Life medical helicopter based in La Monte MO lost engine power after taking off from the helipad late Sunday morning and crash-landed- seriously injuring the 3 flight crew members.

The SEDALIA DEMOCRAT reports that the pilot managed to miss a storage tank that contained fuel for the helicopter and several other propane tanks- averting an even worse disaster.

Other medical helicopters transported the three injured crew members- the pilot- a flight nurse and a paramedic to University Hospital in Columbia.

It was reported those crew members suffered "back injuries" and they have not yet been identified.

Those crew members were said to be "in fair condition" Sunday evening- The SEDALIA DEMOCRAT reports.
