Wednesday Morning Hurricane Ike Update

Here are the latest visible satellite images and NHC track forecast for Hurricane Ike- now located in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico.

Ike is still on-track to make a landfall at or near Corpus Christi late Friday or early Saturday. The hurricane is forecasted to be a Category-3 upon landfall- while some weather models have Ike as strong as a Cat-4 at that time.

CSW has a reporter- Perry Wing from WING-FM in Rockport-Aransas Pass this morning and I expect a report on that area's preparations and some photos later today.

Some good news on the latest model runs indicate that the remains of Hurricane Ike may not have as much impact rainfall-wise on the Central States as earlier thought.

Still- heavy rains are still expected in the Kansas City MetroRegion beginning tomorrow (Thursday) morning and continuing through this weekend.

With Ike's rain being less of a player- this may reduce the risk of significant flooding in the Central States.

Keep tuned- as things may change however. Hopefully for the better too....
