The National Hurricane Center has issued a Hurricane Watch from Lake Charles- Louisiana to Brownsville- Texas.
Shown is the 10pm Hurricane Ike position and track forecast by the NHC.
The 2 primary hurricane weather models differ on where Ike is headed as one says Corpus Christi and the other says Houston/Galveston.
Regardless- landfall somewhere at or between these two Texas Gulf cities is likely between 10 pm Friday and 10 am Saturday now.
Best intensity estimate is now ranging from mid to high-end Category 3.
Here are some photographs- courtesy of Brother-man Perry Wing of WING-Austin-of the local preparation for Hurricane Ike in Port Aransas today.
It was a 20 minute wait for a ferry from Port Aransas to Aransas Pass by early afternoon.
Roadways in Deep south Texas were becoming congested with people leaving coastal areas by late afternoon. Perry reported many vehicles northbound on U.S. 183 towing trailers and boats in the area of Cuero.
