K.C. MetroRegion WEATHER: BIG Rains Forecasted This Weekend

While Texas Gulf coast is buttoning up in preparation for a possible Category-4 Hurricane Ike- the Central States may be in for some damaging weather as well.


This National Weather Service Hydro Prediction Center (HPC) has issued the latest 5-Day precipation forecast for the continental U.S.- and as you can see by this zoomed image (click for full-size)- a swath of possible 12-inch- 1 foot- rainfalls is forecasted from northeastern Oklahoma into southwestern Missouri.


The Kansas City Metro could see as much as 5-inches by next Monday. Mositure from Tropical Storm Lowell will surge northeast and Ike will pump Gulf moisture northward into a frontal system parked over the Central States by late-week.
