Threat of Severe Storms- Tornadoes- Cancels Metro Friday Night Football Games

During the past 45 minutes or so- I've heard several cancellations of  high school football games.

Grandview- Raytown- Blue Valley- Kearney and Leavenworth games have been postponed and/or rescheduled because of lightning in those areas as well as the existing Tornado Watch.

It sounded as though Grandview police weren't even aware the Tornado Watch was in effect as of about 8 p.m.

At Ruskin we got a reminder of safety protocols at game start--7 pm. At about 2010 we were shooed into the school due to lightening in the area--no rain at that time.

The Ruskin game with Smith Hale was suspended until tomorrow afternoon at 1500 at District Stadium. Ruskin was up 13-7 midway through the second quarter.

I drove west, back towards my home, encountering deteriorating conditions. When I reached my favorite WiFi equipped McDs, it was blowing a gale, hard rain, and even tiny hale. As of 2147, we are in a pause in the rain action, with vivid lightening all around.

And that is my report!
