Driver Rescues Self After Plunge Into A Creek

It was around 4:25 a.m. Saturday morning when a young male lost control the pickup truck he was driving on 215th Street near Watts Road in far eastern Cass county MO and plunged into a rain-swollen creek.

Pleasant Hill (PH) fire and EMS- as well as the Cass County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to the scene south of Strasburg at 4:28 and 4:29 a.m. respectively.

The PHFD dispatcher reports talking to the parents in regard to this rescue call- that the water in the creek "was rising rapidly-" and that the parents were also enroute to aid their son.

The emergency responders have not arrived when- at 4:37 a.m.- PHFD dispatch tells them the parent is saying that "their son is safely out" of the truck and onto dryer land.

"The truck was "left in the creek" though.

At 4:41 a.m.- still before responders had made it to the scene- the driver- apparently uninjured- "left the scene with his parents."
