CSW EXCLUSIVE: Will KC-MO Move Fire and Police Dispatch?

A
reliable source tells CSW that the City of KC-MO is making plans to relocate both fire and police dispatch.

The building shown in the following images was a dispatch center between Locust and Cherry south of 11th Street downtown built in the mid-1990's to house the fire and police dispatch centers- and both agencies have been operating out of this building since it was opened.

The source told CSW that the "secret plans" being drawn up has the fire dispatch moving to the current MAST-EMS headquarters on Eastwood Trafficway west of I-435.

The police would re-locate their dispatch center "to a location on Bannister Road"- possibly the planned new South Patrol zone police station at Bannister and Marion Park Drive between U.S. 71 and I-435.

It is only surmised the moves are being made in the name of National Security- since both dispatch centers are in the same building and clustered very close to other government buildings downtown that MIGHT be subject to any "terrorist attack."

Of course- the source has no idea what such moves would cost the city- when such a move might be made- nor what would become of the present dispatch center- but hey- government has the deep and seemingly endless supply of taxpayer monies....
