CSW WEATHER: Flash Flooding Threat Increasing in Parts of Metro Kansas City

A Flash Flood Warning continues in effect for Cass County MO- including the cities of Harrisonville- Garden City- Archie- Freeman- Peculiar- Belton- Raymore and Pleasant Hill through 3 a.m. this Sunday morning.

A Severe Thunderstorm (Tstm) Warning was issued minutes ago for Platte county MO until 1:30 a.m. for mainly strong winds and large hail- as well as torrential rainfall and deadly lightning.

At 1:12 a.m.- the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Pleasant Hill reported "baseball-size hail near Platte City" in the past 10 minutes.

The storms could also produce flash flooding from central to southern Platte county through dawn.

Strong thunderstorms continue to develop and move over rain-satuated Cass county MO..

There is a HIGH flash flood threat in Cass county through sunrise. 

In addition- strong to occasionally severe thunderstorms continue westward along and south of I-70 in Kansas.

These storms are moving east-northeast toward parts of Metro Kansas City.

Nearly 3 inches of rain have fallen over the past few days in parts of southern Johnson county KS..

Additional heavy rain over that area could result in rapid flash flooding as well.
