Fire Heavily Damages a Construction Company's Building in Grandview MO

It was just after midnight- 12:13 a.m. Sunday morning- when the Grandview Fire department's three stations were called out to a reported fire in a building in the 12200 block of Grandview Road.

Arriving less than 5 minutes later- it was obvious by the heavy- black smoke pouring from the 2-story structure that additional firefighting help would be needed- and out went to call to four Kansas City MO fire companies to help the GFD battle the fire.

Flames were consuming the 2nd-floor offices of the Rock and Dirt Construction Company at 12220 Grandview Road- tucked behind the massive buildings that used to house the House of Lloyd novelty company.

It took nearly an hour for the eight crews from the two departments to extinguish the fire- while fire trucks from the Belton and South Metro Fire departments filled-in at empty Grandview fire stations and responded to other calls in that southwestern Jackson county city.

Fortunately- no one got hurt- and the fire's cause was under investigation while an unknown number of the company's employees whill probably be out of work until the fire's damage can be repaired.
