CSW BREAKING: KC-MO Police Switching to New Radio System

It's not a happy Wednesday morning for those of you without digital police scanners and listen to KC-MO Police...

So far this morning- several of the police patrol 'zones' have switched over to the new P25-compliant radio system.

If you have an old analog radio- you will not be able to pick up the new radio transmissions.

The new radio communications are in the clear thus far- but CSW has been told that encrypted signals will be used more on the new radio system.

Thus far- KC-MO Fire and EMS are still on the old '800mhz' trunk system- but they will be changing over soon I am told.

I imagine a day is coming soon where the citizens won't be able to hear the activities of their PUBLIC SERVANTS at all.

So far it's north and Shoal Creek, metro and south...East preparing to go as I type. The VA maintenance crew was wondering when Commenco was going to come by to help them with the switch...

Black arm bands around here.

Yep TO- they're all over on the new system except fire & EMS- and that'll be around the first of next year as I have it from sources.

At least they're not encrypted...yet.
