The crash was reported to emergency services at 4:08 a.m. and they responded to Swope Parkway under the Bruce Watkins Expressway/U.S. 71 where they found the car on fire and the driver trapped inside.
Firefighters quickly doused the fire and extricated the badly-injured driver.
It wasn't known if he was burned- and police were investigating the crash.
