Central States News: Evacuations Ordered in Hamburg IA After Missouri River Levee Fails

Evacuation orders are in effect for hundreds of residents in Hamburg IA after part of a Missouri River levee failed southwest of the town.

Hamburg is a town of about 1200 people along Interstate 29 and the Nishnabotna River in extreme southwestern Iowa- about a mile north of the Missouri border.

Not only are homes and businesses threatened in the southern portions of that town- but floodwater threatens to close I-29- a major route between Kansas City and Omaha NE..
