Two males- a driver and his passenger around 20-years-of-age- suffered very critical injuries and were rushed to Metro hospitals after their vehicle crashed into a tree in central Independence MO early Saturday morning.
The crash was reported just before 3 a.m. in the 2800 block of Cogan Drive.
The driver- whose identity has not yet been released by IPD- later died at a Kansas City medical trauma center.
Police are investigating with speed and wet roads from overnight thundershowers likely a factor in the crash.
