Man and His Daughter Drown at Smithville Lake

his incident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon near the Camp Branch of Smithville Lake in Metro Kansas City's Northland.


Drowned are a 27-year-old man and his 7-year-old daughter.

Sadly this is not the first time this has happen. I do not understand why people are drowning at a beach is the undertow or current that bad. And I would think that after one sad incident smithville would at least put a lifeguard on duty out there.

The lifeguards WOULD be a good idea- but consider city/county budgets these days.

Even more advantagous would be for people to look-out for their own and each other when at the beach.
