MetroRegion Kansas City News: Receeding Missouri Leaves Battered Highways in Northwest Missouri

As the water level in the Missouri River continues to fall- the damage left behind is evident and striking.

More than 2 months of flooding has left many roads and highways damaged- many have gaps of entire roadway and roadbed washed out.

This includes U.S. 136 highway west of Rocheport- shown here in an image courtesy of the ST. JOSEPH (MO) NEWS-PRESS along with an accompanying story on the highway damage.

Still closed is Interstate 29 north of the Iowa border going toward Omaha- and damage to the roadbed and bridges could keep I-29 closed well into 2012.
