MetroRegion Kansas City News: Lawrence KS Shifts Water Supply Away From Algae-Infected Kaw River

That toxic blue-green algae has been popping-up at a number of MetroRegion lakes this summer (yes- still summer till Septemeber 23) and now- due to upstream reservoir releases particularily at Milford- the algae has made it's way down area rivers.

So concerned about the problem that Lawrence officials moved that city's water supply treatment to it's Clinton Lake facility- according to the story in the LAWRENCE JOURNAL-WORLD online.

Upstream on the Kaw (Kansas) River the City of Topeka hasn't taken such drastic measures as they still continue to take water from the river- according to the TOPEKA (KS) CAPITAL-JOURNAL.
