Don't Drink and Drive- Olathe KS Story

A
round 1:46 am- an off-duty law enforcement officer reportedly witnessed a car hit a median guardrail at freeway speed and bounce across the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 - coming to rest on the foot of the northbound on-ramp from Santa Fe in Olathe.

The careening car seemingly missed any other traffic on the busy Metro freeway and came to rest at the foot of the northbound ramp from Santa Fe.

Both airbags in the mid-size car deployed- but the 40-year-old male driver was not seatbelted.

The off-duty LEO reported the man was at first unconscious in the wrecked car- but he had "come to" according to an Olathe officer a few minutes later.

MEDACT-EMS 1151 arrived and loaded the driver up for a ride to a nearby trauma center- he had possible head and other serious injuries.

The MEDACT-EMS paramedic also stated their patient was obviously intoxicated.

Olathe police were wrapping up their investigation with charges likely against the driver.
