Couple Uninjured After Plane's Belly Landing In Dodge City KS

S
unday afternoon- 77-year-old Harry E. Bladow and his 70-year-old wife Susan of Independence OR were flying from Oregon to Texas in the Bladow's 1966 Beechcraft when they encountered yesterday's opening-act snowstorm in western Kansas.

With visibility decreasing- Bladow wisely decided to put their plane down at the Dodge City KS airport when- on his landing approach- his plane's 'speedometer' or air-speed indicator went on the fritz.

The Bladow's Beechcraft hit the runway hard- breaking off both landing gear- according to the story in the TOPEKA CAPITOL-JOURNAL.

The plane slid on it's belly for about 330 feet- but remained upright and no fire resulted.

Even better- Harry and wife Susan were uninjured.

No mention in the article how the Bladows will continue their trip to Texas.
