KANSAS CITY MetroRegion WEATHER: NWS- "Near-Blizzard Conditions" Later Today

I'm posting the following info separate of the morning news and weather report which- so far- won't be much anyway.

The NWS Topeka office latest forecast is a general 2 to 4-inches of snow over the southwestern through northwestern parts of their forecast area beginning around midday and continuing until around midnight.

In addition- "near blizzard" and "whiteout" conditions are expected at times later today into this evening over parts of the afore mentioned areas.

This will affect I-35 southbound and I-70 westbound from K.C..

Here are the weather hazards in effect for Kansas counties of the Kansas City MetroRegion:

SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY FROM 9AM TO 6PM FOR MARSHALL... RILEY... GEARY... MORRIS... LYON... WABAUNSEE... POTTAWATOMIE... NEMAHA... BROWN AND JACKSON COUNTIES.

SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY FROM NOON UNTIL 9PM FOR JEFFERSON... SHAWNEE... DOUGLAS... OSAGE... FRANKLIN... COFFEE AND ANDERSON COUNTIES.

A snow and blowing snow advisory for 3 to 5-inches of the freezy skid stuff continues through today for much of the Missouri side of the MetroRegion.

As well- the NWS-SPC has the eastern half of the MetroRegion in a convective chance (click image)-which could include some "thundersnows."
