** Male Critically Beaten In Independence-MO **


*** A male thought to be in his 20's received head injuries- broken bones and other injuries after he was beaten numerous times by a baseball bat early Sunday.

This beating- originally believed to be a shooting- was in the 1700 block of South Dodgion- reported to police around 1:40am.. No suspect info available.

** KANSAS CAR CHASE ENDS IN CRASH IN KC-MO **

*** The 29-year-old male suspect of what police say was an attempted carjacking in or near Merriam KS early Sunday morning is under hospital arrest.

The suspect tried to elude several pursuing officers who spotted him in a blue Chevy Blazer northbound on I-35 near Johnson Drive around 3:05am. The chase went north on I-35 at speeds up to "90 mph" through KC-KS into KC-MO- around the west side of the Downtown loop to the north side.

The suspect headed eastbound on I-70- then tried to high-speed exit on Main street when- at 3:15am- he lost control. An arrest was officially made at 3:17am and the man went to a local hospital soon afterwards.

** SERIOUS INJURY WRECK IN LEAVENWORTH COUNTY-KS **

... Two males were injured- one seriously- when their car left the road and crashed into a creek Sunday morning.
This happened in the 18300 block of Eisenhower Road around 4:20am. Extrication of the seriously-injured male driver took nearly an hour. He was flown to a KC trauma center.

** FIRE BURNS HOME IN NORTHERN JACKSON COUNTY MO **


... The Fort Osage fire department- assisted by at least 3 other departments- battled a fire in a single-story home in the 2800 block of North Union School Road at 12:19am.

The 2 adult occupants escaped without injury and it took until 1:10 am to put the fire out.

** NORTONVILLE KANSAS BUSINESS BURNS **


... The Country Inn Cafe in or near this northern Jefferson County Kansas town was heavily-damaged in a fire just before 2am Sunday morning.
The business was in the 19900 block of K-4 and it took Nortonville and 2 other fire departments a couple of hours to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported.

** POSSIBLE ABDUCTION FROM CASINO **

... Early Sunday- North Kansas City police were investigating a reported "kidnapping" of a person from a casino in their city. The victim was with KC-MO police at a convienience store in KC-MO.

That call came in around 3:45am- and no other information could be had.

Clearing and cold was the MetroRegion weather overnight. Temperatures chilled by the 1 to 4-inch snowpack fell into the single digits north and west- with low to mid teens in urban areas. Winds were calm or light westerly.

Sunshine but cold today- with a slow warming trend by early week.
