Virtually all on-duty fire companies of the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District (CJCFD) were called out to battle a duplex fire in Blue Springs MO early Sunday morning.
The action all started with the 1:31 a.m. dispatch of four CJCFD units to the structure in the 1100 block of Northwest 6th Street.
A Blue Springs police officer who was also dispatched on the call was the first to arrive at 1:34 a.m. and he saw "heavy fire" coming from the "garage area" of one side of the duplex.
The occupant of the side of the duplex that was on fire was already outside and uninjured.
The fire spread throughout the one side of the unit- then into the attic area shared by both- and at least two additional CJCFD engines (pumpers) were called into the fire.
Fire crews from the Fort Osage and Sni Valley departments filled-in at empty CJCFD stations during the fire- which was declared under control at 2:35 a.m..
No firefighter or other injuries have been reported as of this post- and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
