'National Bikers Roundup' Winds Down Today

The event has been going on most of this week out at the Kansas City International Raceway in the 8200 block of Noland Road.

The air around here has been heavy with the deep-throated roar of Harleys - I've noticed literally hundreds of bikers in south K.C. over the past 4 days and have thumbed-up so much it's stuck there.

Last night I heard a fire department pumper captain say there was around 3000 people at KCIR. The STAR article this morning said upwards of 50000 were to attend.

The number of fire department & medical calls out there support that estimate. Since Friday night I've heard and/or logged probably a dozen calls there- virtually all involving folks over-indulging and motorized equipment.

Other than the occasional mishap- it sounds like folks are behaving themselves and having one good-ole time.
