KC-MO EMS reports a "20-year-old male" is in critical condition after being stabbed twice in the chest early Saturday morning.
The stabbing occurred around 4:45 a.m. in the 8700 block of Northwest 82nd Street and police said that the man's girlfriend was the suspect.
The victim walked a block or two from where the stabbing occurred to a fire truck waiting for police to arrive and secure the scene.
He was taken to a Northland hospital in critical condition.
The girlfriend also left on foot- and was possibly picked-up by police about 20 minutes after the stabbing- but that has not been confirmed.

Central States NEWS: Tulsa OK's "Privatized" Zoo
Unlike Kansas City MO- the City of Tulsa got out of the zoo business.
More accurately- the city turned their zoo's operation over to a corporation formed by Tulsa's "Friends of The Zoo-" according to the story in the TULSA (OK) WORLD.
The zoo's corporation- called "Tulsa Zoo Management Inc.-" still takes in around $3.6-million from the city for "management fees-" but the remaining revenue comes from "admission, zoo membership fees, food, retail and general donations" according to the TW article.
The zoo is doing so well these days that 26 jobs- some left unfilled from the days of the zoo's city operation- are now being filled.
Here's a great example for KC-MO- quit piling it on us poor folks in the form of an increased sales tax for the zoo and privatize it.

Eastern US Flooding Worst Since 1972
Flooding- caused by continuing rains spawned by dying Tropical Storm Lee- has prompted the evacuation orders for hundreds of thousands of residents in New York and Pennsylvania.
The entire downtown area of Binghamton NY was ordered evacuated later Wednesday as the Susquehanna River is poised to equal- or even exceed flood stages recorded during the historic floods caused by Hurricane Agnes in 1972.
As of late morning Thursday- floodwater from the Susquehanna was beginning to flow over that city's flood wall (see image).
In Wilkes-Barre PA- the same areas affected by the Agnes-caused 1972 flood has been ordered to evacuate again- according to the WILKES-BARRE (PA) TIMES-LEADER.

9-11 Anniversary Observed By Increased Police Presence at K.C.I. Airport
Although the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11- 2001 originated and terminated more than a thousand miles from Kansas City's airport- there'll be an increased presence of security at KCI as the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks near.
According to the story in the KANSAS CITY BUSINESS JOURNAL- travellers and others going to KCI will face "potential random vehicle checks" and other security measures.
I'm only assuming those other security measures are an increase in passenger groping by the TSA....

Central States News: Springfield MO Fire Truck Rolls- Driver Seriously Injured
Having once driven every kind of rig the fire department operated (and I did so without putting so much as a scratch on a truck)- these kind of stories always get my attention...
This morning- a Springfield fire truck with 3 firefighters on board turned over in the southeast part of that southern Missouri city.
The SPRINGFIELD (MO) NEWS-LEADER reports that the driver suffered serious- but not life-threatening injuries and that the truck was not on an emergency call(?).
The other 2 firefighters reportedly did not suffer serious injuries.

Satellite Images Show Less Smoke- But Texas Wildfires Continue To Burn
Officials in Central Texas report "more than 600 structures" have been destroyed in a series of natural cover fires within a 50-mile radius of Austin Texas.
As of late Tuesday afternoon- 2 fatalities have been reported by KVUE-TV and other media outlets in Austin.
There have been at least a dozen injuries- mostly firefighters.
A visible zoomed-in weather satellite image courtesy of NASA and taken just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon shows considerable less visible smoke than images shown here on CSW Monday afternoon.
However- officials say the biggest blaze- the Bastrop Wildfire- is zero-percent contained as of noon today- according to the AUSTIN (TX) AMERICAN-STATESMAN.
Winds have lightened- but relative humidities continue to be low.
The Steiner Ranch and Pedernales Bend Wildfires west of Austin are said to be mostly contained- and fire crews are making progress on the Leander or "Moonglow" Wildfire to the north.
A new natural cover fire was reported in the past hour in Northwest Austin and that fire was threatening structures- according to KXAN-TV in Austin.
"Remembering 9-11" Is More American News Media Overkill
Almost daily for the past month or 120- the American news media keeps bringing up the terrorists attacks on NYC and the Pentagon back on September 11- 2001.
Although there is extensive real news to cover every day that the American news media doesn't- we're continually assailed by the video and images from that day.
Never mind the terrorists DID score a victory of sorts- bother to read PATRIOT ACTS (idiotic name- a misnomer) I and II to find out just what we lost and try to take an airplane flight without being groped by strangers or experiencing a (almost) proctology exam.
Don't get me wrong- I feel strongly for all the people who lost loved ones that day- but I'm sure they and FOR sure I don't want to reminded of an avoidable (if government people had been doing their jobs correctly) tragedy at virtually every turn of the TV channel.
