For less than the cost of one dispatcher- Johnson County will begin providing EMS call-taking and dispatch service for Miami County.
Current EMS dispatching for Miami county is provided by American Medical Response (AMR) out of Independence MO via landlines and radio repeaters.
According to the story in The OLATHE (KS) DAILY NEWS- Miami county will pay JoCo $2000 per month for the 9-1-1 call taking and EMS dispatching beginning March 1st.
That cost doesn't even pay for one JoCo dispatcher- who make in excess of $2000 per month.
We'll see how this turns out for the taxpayers of both counties....
