The Demolition of Bannister Mall - February 3, 2009

Here are some photos taken this morning of the continued demolition of the old Bannister Mall on the northeast intersection of Interstate 435 and Bannister Road.

The demolition is beginning on the north end of the old mall- you can see by these images (click on the photo for full resolution) that much of the interior of the old Jones Store has been gutted.

The Kaw Valley Company is doing the tear-down and the company is attempting to recycle as much of the building's materials as they can.

Trespassers have removed much of the recyclable material already- according to workers at the site.

I'll be posting progress reports of the razing of Bannister Mall over the weeks ahead....
