Middle-America - Solitary News-Weatherman Needs Break

Spring (and it STILL is that) 2008 has been one for the record books.

First- the season seems to take forever to get here- with freezing temperatures well into April.

Then the warmth but also the rains come. Farmers & gardeners waiting to plant find it too wet- fairly-generous winter precipitation graced most of us as well. Invest in corn futures- much of the Corn Belt's swamped. Imagine the coming price increase on stuff too.

Also- the severe weather. The Year 2008 has already seen more thna 1500 tornado reports alone. Around 100 people have been killed by tornadoes- at least a dozen more by floods.

Yes- the floods.

Cedar Rapids-IA is suffering the worst flooding from the Cedar River in the city's history. Flood crests are still gathering- rushing into the already-swollen Mississippi river.

Some points along the Mississippi may see flood heights higher than in The Great Flood of 1993.

Therefore- we all need a break- a let's say- 10-day string of pleasant- sunny days. It's hell on everybody- especially those suffering- and it's hell on me trying to keep up with it all.
