American Airlines Cuts 13000 Jobs - Ditches Employee Pension Plans

Corporate America does it again...

American Airlines- who still owes the City of Kansas City MO more than one million dollars for breaking the lease at the old TWA Overhaul Base at K.C.I. airport- is putting at least 13000 of it's employees out of a job.

In addition- AMR- American's parent company- is turning four of it's pension plans over to a Federal agency (American citizen taxpayers)- the "Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation."

American Airlines and it's regional carrier American Eagle employs around 85000 people systemwide.

The TULSA (OK) WORLD online reports that at least "2100" employees of American will lose their jobs in that northeastern Oklahoma city.

American Airlines also announces it is closing it's Fort Worth TX maintenance base- costing 1200 workers jobs there.

No word (doubtful) if AA plans to re-pay numerous government 'incentives' (corporate welfare) given to them over the years- whether company executives will take pay cuts (lol) or if Kansas City will EVER see the more than one million bucks owed them by the failing airline.
